nadiyar.com is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.
This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.

Edit: did I mention I always build from latest commit but never caught any bug :)
I've been playing around with #snac2 as a user for the past few months. There are some rough edges on the web interface, though they pretty much melt away with client software. I'd like the ability to reply to my own posts from my user page, for instance. I do like the lack of Javascript, which does make it less smooth at times.
For a Fediverse user on the web, #Mastodon does offer a lot of conveniences (unless you're the one installing and running it).
So I'm using some Mastodon, some snac2.
snac is rather awesome software. It's lightweight, exceedingly fast and just works.
Thanks @grunfink@comam.es (and other contributors to the project).
I'm running snac/2.92-dev.
I notice that in the notifications page that the 'clear all' button does not function. Is anyone else having this issue?
I've been on the fence about hosting my own #fediverse account for a while now, mainly because of the insane hardware requirements.
I've considered pleroma/akkoma for a while, but i don't know the first thing about elixir and their docs are not the most clear. I've been really tempted by #GoToSocial, but #snac's easy install & general simplicity made me take the plunge.
It is my 3rd month of running #snac #snac2 instance. I wanted to share a few words about how awesome this software is.
Few points that make snac icredibly good for my usecase are:
After 3 month of posting (2 active users and 3 semi active users) my data dir is ~500MB and memory usage is ~200MB
it means i can keep running it on my infrastructure without even thinking too much about load
@grunfink@comam.es thanks for such a awesome piece of software 🩷🩷🩷
I found this comment in activitypub.c while reading some of the snac2 source code :
/* unify the garbage fire that are the attachments */
Involuntary chortle activated. It is a good read so far.
'sloccount' says snac2 is valuable:
Total Estimated Cost to Develop = $ 740,878
I suppose it could be somehow related to the fact that this instance is rather old and I have set that image as my avatar over a year ago and maybe it wasn't recorded as file that shouldn't be cleaned up.
I'll see what else got removed, I have backups…
