So while for them it looks like we're not attentive for not noticing the spilled coffee on the table, our reality is that they seem to be functioning weird by not noticing the t-shirt that was intentionally left to be re-used, which means I really need to buy detergent, so I better collect the garbage that is under the sink, which needs ...

          Mutual Aid Checkpoint Roundup 27/05/2026

I’ve listed mutual aid requests from this week’s checkpoint that need urgent support: rent, food, medicine, utilities, and everything else that enables people to live with dignity. Please read through, support directly, share requests that still need movement, or boost this post far and wide so they can move beyond one feed and reach people who can help. [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

          Eid Mubarak, everyone!

Today’s Eid al-Adha. In Islam, its significance, in practice, carries the language of sacrifice, provision, obligation, and redistribution. The sacrifice here does not mean abandoning ourselves. One way to interpret it is to materially align ourselves with what Islam teaches us: that God is Al-Wahhab, The Supreme Bestower; Ar-Razzaq, The Provider; and Al-Fattah, The Opener of provision doors. Our dignity is not earned through productivity, respectability, or survival performance. It is inherent because Allah created us with worth before capitalism ever demanded utility from us

          (1)

          .

When life itself is provision, then everything we hold in this dunya (world) must be understood with humility. Wealth is not proof of superior worth, harder work, or greater deservingness. It exists because Allah allows it to exist under divine decree. To hoard that provision while others are forced to compete for food, shelter, medicine, and safety is not success. It is moral corruption and spiritual bankruptcy.

This means nobody should be in a constant battle between solidarity and survival, or in a competition for basic necessities to earn a proper and dignified living. Nobody should go to sleep hungry, without a roof, or in pain from lack of medication, because nobody should hoard God’s provision.

With that being said, below are the requests from people asking for help with survival needs, rent, food, medicine, utilities, and everything else that enables us to live with dignity, all the things capitalism makes us compete with each other for while slowly eroding our humanity in the process.

Please read through the requests, support directly where possible, and share the requests that still need movement. The rest of the requests can be found under last week’s mutual aid checkpoint.

          A Note Before You Go

Every week, I collect mutual aid requests that show up under my Friday mutual aid checkpoint on the fediverse. This is a small attempt on my part, and a continuation of my weekly checkpoint on my previous main platform, which should not be named. This is just another node in the vast digital mutual aid community, to make solidarity as borderless as possible and mutual aid requests easier to follow, share, and return to.

I know I don’t have to do this, but please allow me to apologise for being late to publish this week’s checkpoint roundup article and newsletter. We’re in the second week of the mutual aid amplification project on the fediverse, yet I’m already late publishing the weekly article. I don’t have any excuse other than I really forgot to set this up before focusing on my ibadah, on top of stabilising the ActivityPub relay for the past week, while also catching up with my anime rewatch. Unforgivable.

If last week’s roundup seemed rushed, that’s because it was. It genuinely was. Please bear with me while I’m slowly getting used to the rhythm of work and quality that I set up for myself within my own project framework. Yes, I can hear my AuDHD brain battling against emotional regulation and integrity while typing that.

Eventually, I will form a team to sustain this project together with me, and this whole project will finally be where it belongs: https://mutualaidspace.org (formerly https://mutualaid.wrzky.com). My personal website here will return to functioning as my digital identity, portfolio, and virtual homebase on Bisan’s internet.

Thank you for reading this far. Feel free to drop me an email with your thoughts or advice, if any. And don’t forget to share this article where my presence is unwanted and where mutual aid requests get labeled as e-begging.

          See you around.

Hey folks, so, while I'm not officially diagnosed with a specific neurodiversity yet, my therapist agrees there is definitely something there, probably in that area. I have been trying to chat with some older folks in my family about it and I sorta lack good resources or quizzes/quick assessment resources that could potentially help with breaching the subject with them, or helping in their own curiosity.

Are there any that folks recommend for good but easy reads?

, crochet edition, in which I have a socially acceptable fidget toy...

@mbroome and I are taking a weeklong vertical cave rescue class, and it has been a looooong time since I tried to cram this much information into my head this fast. Fortunately one of the course leaders is a teacher as her day job and understands ADHD, so she's totally okay with me crocheting my way through the classroom instruction.

We're three days in, and I've already finished the hat for my BIL and gotten a good start on the [crochet lace shrug](ilikecrochet.com/magazine/croc) I'm making with the nice cashmere yarn I got on super sale!

This shrug pattern is *perfect* for classroom management - simple stitch, no finicky counting, just cluster into the chain-2 space over and over until I run out of yarn... 🥰 It's so much easier to concentrate on the lecture material when my hands are occupied! I even managed a halfway-decent Russian splice, from memory, when I ran into a break in the yarn.

3 in 1 Spiky stim roller. These have clicker tops (choose your clicker type), and a real ball bearing installed so the top spins. The texture is spiky and can be used as a ‘pain stim’ or for general sensory input. It’s printed to be weighted so it feels heavy in your hand for additional grounding support.

welp, let me do this as a gentle reminder:

and in my case: with a sprinkling of good ol' extra spicy .

                                          but ironically, 🧵

Just curious. For the purposes of the poll, count coffee / mate and other caffeine (and any illicit stimulant substances) as self-medication.

(In high school and college I remember saying "coffee makes me sleepy" and IN RETROSPECT, OMG.)

Hey hey fellow ADHD folks and anyone else who regularly needs post-its or other written reminders! YouTube just put this in front of me. It's a band you can write on with a ball point pen, wipe off using friction (water won't remove it), and it snaps to your wrist.

It was originally designed for nurses in Japan who write notes on their wrists. But I can imagine about a thousand ways that a person who struggles with executive function could use something like this!

The website for the company is wemo.earth, and you can buy the bands on Amazon if you need that convenience, or also at japantrendshop.com as an Amazon alternative (they ship worldwide). They're about $18 USD.

Did you know that neurotypical folks just can not think about anything for a period of time? Yeah, me neither.

and lead to less synaptic pruning which results in a higher density of synaptic connections. This leads to brain hyperconnectivity, which is the cause of sensory overload and reduced filtering of irrelevant stimuli. It is as well a reason for difficulties with executive functions.

I wish I sometimes just could NOT think.

People with ADHD and lots of projects, how do you keep track of your to-dos across your devices and projects and actually use that to-do list, as opposed to letting them languish forever?
